Heute schafft der Konsum von Bildern neue Kontexte für die gebaute Umwelt. Im Fall von New Glarus wird das Schweizer Chalet zu einer Mischung aus architektonischen Elementen – vorgefundenen wie fremden – die das Gesicht des Dorfes in Wisconsin USA verändern. Der Vortrag «I Love Chalets» untersucht, wie dieses zirkuläre Phänomen Gebäude und ihre vermeintlich kulturellen Assoziationen beeinflusst. Nicole McIntosh und Jonathan Louie von Architecture Office stellen ihr mehrjähriges Forschungs- und Designprojekt über Medien und das Schweizer Chalet vor und erläutern dessen Einfluss auf ihr Schaffen.

Today the consumption of imagery produces new contexts for the built environment. In the case of New Glarus, the Swiss chalet becomes a mixture of architectural elements – both found and alien to Wisconsin – that change the appearance of the village. The lecture «I Love Chalets» investigates how this circular phenomenon influences buildings and their assumed cultural associations. Nicole McIntosh and Jonathan Louie of Architecture Office will trace their multi-year research and design project on media and the Swiss chalet and share its influence on their practice.
